So let's hit one from left field here. I realize this blog is about my thoughts for the future. Where I think we're headed as a civilization, our grave missteps and our best decisions. But today, I say screw that. I'm gonna talk about something totally different that in a way has nothing to do with what I usually write but is in a sense something that has become a part of me as I grow up trying to become an entrepreneur and public voice. We're gonna talk about men’s fashion.
Didn't expect that right? Well it's something I'm passionate about not because of my own image or even the first impression. I mean it's a little bit of that but so much more. Learning how to dress well is a process that initially seems like a rebranding of sorts and it is, but what it really gives you is confidence. Dressing well, getting that killer outfit is like getting a suite of armor. It gives you confidence to let everything just bounce off. There's only so many insults anyone can send your way when you dress like a celebrity and they look like the average joe.
Remember this, it's not about image. It's about what an image can give you. It's about the confidence you get when you have the perfect outfit on. The compliments on a new shirt, or pair of shoes can do wonders for your self-image and this is extremely important. There's nothing more useful to a person than confidence. It can be everything. It can be the push you need to ask for that raise, or the push to ask that cute girl from the coffee shop out after awkwardly gawking at her for weeks. What I'm trying to say, is that you should dress well not for the sake of other people. To be honest I wouldn't even suggest following fashions trends because you'll end up looking like a carbon copy of everyone else. While that's definitely a safe route, we're not looking for safe here. Safe doesn't get you what you really want. Safe doesn't give you the pressure necessary to make make you a diamond. Safe is for the rest of them. But for people that want to rise above the average, boldness is necessary. Don't be afraid to be different. Don't be afraid to get those brown shoes, or those slim jeans. Step outside of the norm little by little and realize that it doesn't hurt or kill you. Use the new found confidence of being the best dressed guy in the room to also become the most powerful guy in the room.
So to conclude this call to stylish arms, i want to reiterate. It's not about the fashion itself. It's barely even about the image. No instead it's about what the image can turn you into. The confidence it gives you, the willingness to step outside your comfort zone and realizing that your comfort zone only hold you back.
